Started in October 2010, our Prophetic Ministry has served to provide a way for our people to receive and experience the prophetic…some for the first time, and others pressing in for more after waiting 3 months for the next session.
Held on the 3rd Sunday each month, the Prophetic Ministry is now a regular feature at Life-Spring attracting even visitors and guests who are open to such a ministry in a church setting. Written guidelines are given to the receivers to ensure that proper protocol is followed even as we encourage them to embrace the prophetic gift according to what the Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 14.
“(1) Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy…(3) But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort…(39) Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. (40) But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”
For your information, here are some of the guidelines given to the receivers:
- Judge all prophecy. Does the word stand up to scriptural principles and truths?
- Does it bear witness in your spirit (though not necessary your mind or emotions)?
- Does it produce the fruit of righteousness, peace and joy within your heart (as opposed to
anxiety, confusion or fear)?
- If the prophetic word passes the first 3 tests above, then it’s up to you to (a) receive it
(b) believe it (c) activate it.
- Activation involves a conscious effort to walk out in faith the word that was proclaimed over
you.
Isn’t it exciting to read the following feedback and see how this ministry has been able to encourage and strengthen the receivers to move on with their lives?
“I have listened to the recording and I have also reviewed the prophetic guidelines.Yes, the words spoken over me were right on.They have passed the tests as outlined in the guidelines. They encouraged and comforted me. Yes, the past is bad, and I'm going through a hard time but I'm learning to trust God and His Word…I thank God for what you and your church are doing to bring people closer to God.”
“I took time again to listen again to the recording.I have to say that it speaks to my heart. I have been looking for God and he has revealed that I have been striving in the wrong way. I only need to wait on him.It has been very encouraging forme to hear the words again.”
“The prophetic ministry in your church has been immensely helpful in guiding me, encouraging me in my journey, as well as confirming things that I think God is saying to me.”
Here’s a good word to keep in mind as we continue to grow in the practice of the prophetic, developing a culture where everyone at Life-Spring is open and able to hear the voice of God, aligning with what Jesus says in John 10:27.
“Ironically, the purpose of a New Testament prophet is not primarily to prophecy! First, it is train people to hear the Lord for themselves. Second, it is to teach believers how to find and live in the will of God for themselves. Third, it is to instruct and train people in the gift of prophecy and to help churches establish the right framework and protocol for the gift. Fourth, it is to bring the word of the Lord either in inspired teaching or by supernatural prophetic utterance.” - Quote from Graham Cooke’s “Developing Your Prophetic Gifting” book (page 167)
