Perfecting of Our Faith

Perfecting of Our Faith

Hebrews 12:5-6

5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”

As we mature in our relationship with God, it will involve discipline. And discipline oftentimes involves discomfort and pain. Allow me to encourage you that our heavenly Father sees us as His sons and daughters. And because of this relationship, God must discipline us. Which of us parents do not discipline our child that we love? It is because of God’s love for you and me that He disciplines us.

Finally, allow me to remind us to not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord nor be weary when reproved by Him. Worst-case scenario, we become accustomed to the discomfort and pain and live lives of quiet desperation.

Let’s not forget the exhortation that God addresses us as sons and daughters. And let’s live our lives above the rim.
