Thoughts from My Listening Prayer with Our Lord Jesus Christ

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Recently, someone heard that I had a brand new small kitchen appliance just sitting in my basement. This person was going to purchase the exact same merchandise and wanted to bless me. Why not buy from me instead of from the store? This way she can put the money into my hands instead of a big box store. I responded by telling her that I had planned to use it as a housewarming gift to one of my children when they purchase and move into their first home. She totally understood, but I told her to give me a day to do some listening prayer with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is what I heard from my time in listening prayer:

  1. You do not know when your child is buying a home.
  2. But, there is a present and immediate need for the item.
  3. Are you going to hold up resources that can be deployed into my Kingdom now?
  4. Are you willing to be a blessing by giving it to your sister-in-Christ?
  5. Do you trust Me, your good good Father to meet your desire to bless your child when they buy their first home?

So guess what happened? I had the privilege of being a blessing because I am so blessed. Gave away my “precious” brand new small kitchen appliance.

How about you? Is there something/resource in your possession that you are holding back from deploying into God’s Kingdom because of a real future need? Is God asking you, “will you trust me with your future need by letting go of your present resource?”
