Yesterday we had the privilege of hearing Mae-Tuin’s journey of growing in God. Through the highs and lows, through the unknowns and the challenges, through it all – the Seto family came out the other side closer to God.
Jesus says in John 16:33, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”
There is an age old question – “If God is so loving, why do bad things happen”? This is a real question to many, one that I myself wrestled with once upon a time in my faith journey.
As children, we often focus on only the blessings or the benefits of all that we do. If given a choice my children would eat candy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with no regard on what it will do to their teeth, their stomachs, and their long term health. Yet, as we grow and mature we begin to see that maybe candy every day for every meal is not a great idea.
As we grow in maturity, here at Lifespring, we need to recognize that following Jesus is not all sunshine and rainbows. There are trials, testings, challenges! God did not promise a smooth path, in fact He called us to die daily, to die to ourselves – He called us to a life worthy of the King!
As Mae-Tuin shared yesterday – through it all – God is so faithful.
Wherever you are today – keep your eyes on Jesus. It may not be all sunshine and rainbows today or even tomorrow – but one thing is guaranteed – He is WITH YOU.
Father God, many things will draw our eyes. But help our eyes be drawn to you. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
