Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. …
14 “You are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:13-15
God calls us to be salt and light in society. This is especially difficult when the values of society go against what God’s word in the Bible. Jesus teaches in the Be-Attitudes that when we speak to people in society:
We come recognizing our poverty of spirit.
We come with tears
We come in humility
We come with mercy, not judgement
We come with truth and fairness
We come with sincerity of heart
We come in peace.
Pray that God will show us who He wants us to reach out to.
Pray that God will show us ways to demonstrate love and care.
Pray that God will grant us the wisdom to know what to say and when to speak.
And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us,
so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
