You’re Not Good Enough To Be Someone Else

You’re Not Good Enough To Be Someone Else

No matter how much you try to be someone else, you can’t. Trust me, I can try to be like Laura, Ryan, Gabe or Jerry but honestly I’d fail. Why? Because I’m not them and they are not me. I cannot be them and they cannot be me. I was created to be Andrew and no one else. In fact, I’m not good enough to be someone else. I just don’t have it in me. No matter how much I try, I will fall short.

One of the things that I love about Lifespring is that our people are authentically themselves. You can see it when you look back at the past Sunday messages. Like when Peggy was sharing about how God was working through her life and her family, How Leona loves puppies, purses and BBT and even Pastor Alvin being Pastor Alvin.

I thank God that we go to a Church where we can be ourselves. I thank God that we are part of a Family that creates an atmosphere of love and acceptance for God’s people.

In a world that cares more about your Status and Image than who you really are, it is very rare to find a place to belong and be comfortable enough to be yourself.

I cannot cover as much as I want to in this Devotional but I do what to place an emphasis on the fact that God has created you for specific purposes that require you to be you and no one else.

I need you to know that you’re not good enough to be someone else and it’s okay because you were created to be YOU.

If you are on the quest of discovering who you are and who God has called you to be like I am, can I suggest a place to start?

Start by memorizing our Church Memory Verse:

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)

When you understand who you are to God, you will begin to understand who you can be to the world.

Discovering who you are starts with the Father. Your creator, the one who knit you in your mother’s womb. It is an ongoing process that requires a relationship with God. Trust me when I say, He doesn’t just want to tell you who you are, He wants to show you.
