Life can get busy, and before you know it, weeks and months pass us by.
There are so many good things we can work towards, but good is the enemy of great.
Our ultimate goal is to be in alignment with God, but there are many things that can detract us from it.
On Sunday, one key element of the message is the importance of establishing a reference point. In the absence of a well defined reference point, it’s easy to let the world define it for us. When it comes to reference points, there are two types: (1) the fundamental principles that underpin how we live our lives and (2) the goals reflective of each respective season of life. It’s so important to take the time to re-calibrate and evaluate where we are compared to the reference points.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Take some time to re-calibrate. Write down the following question in your journal and reflect.
- What is core to you / your family? What are the non-negotiables? If you’ve never thought about this, reflect on this. This may take some time.
- What is your / your family’s focus this season? If you don’t know, spend some time in listening prayer and ask God!
