The BSF 4-fold method of studying God’s word

Dear LifeSpring Family

As another school year starts, it is also the start of another Bible Study Fellowship year. This year we will be studying the book of John in the bible. Recently I received a welcome email from our Men’s BSF leader, reminding me of the BSF 4-fold method of studying God’s word as shown below.

“The BSF 4-fold method of studying God’s word.  First, through the daily teaching from the Holy Spirit as you complete the daily questions on your questions sheets.  I cannot impress upon you the importance of the word “daily”, because well, it’s GOD who’s waiting to meet and teach you!  Second, your weekly attendance to the discussion group on Monday nights at 7pm.  It is here that iron sharpens iron, where you will share with the group what God’s taught you, and you will hear from the other men, what God’s taught them.  It is here you will begin to understand more and more, that you’re blessed by God, to be a blessing to others.  Third, after discussion group, you will all come back together to hear the lecture, either live or online.  Fourth, you are given a set of notes to read, compiled by BSF, which adds more meaning and understanding, to the previous 3 methods already experienced.”

The BSF 4-fold method of studying God’s word reminded me of LifeSpring’s approach.

1 – Daily listening prayer.

2 – Weekly/regular attending a Life Group.

3 – Hearing/listening to God’s word on Sunday.

4 – Reading, checking and memorising God’s word.

Grace upon grace to all,

Jerry
