Patient Endurance, Jesus Got It All

Patient Endurance, Jesus Got It All

Dear LifeSpring Family,

Lately, I have been grappling with the truth in Philippians 2:4–6 (ESV):

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,”

It just blows my mind that our Lord Jesus Christ, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped. I am not even remotely close to the form of God, but I do have my own interest and agenda. When my own interests and agenda are slightly infringed upon, I start to lose my patience and endurance towards others around me.

Our Lord Jesus is challenging me to not only look upon my own interests, but also the interests of others around me: Whether I could consider the interests of others before my own interests by the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to be reminded that in our Lord Jesus Christ, we already have “this mind among ourselves”. To have the mind of Christ within me is so critical to me living the victorious sacrificial Christian life on earth, for only the mind of Christ in me will enable me to live out verses 7 & 8 of Philippians 2:

“…but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

– Philippians 2:7–8 (ESV)

It will take the supernatural mind of Christ and power of the Holy Spirit in my life to take the form of a servant, humble, obedient to death even death on a “cross”.

Please pray for Dorothy and I as we leave tomorrow for our sabbatical and mission trip.

Grace upon grace
