Community In Prayer

Community In Prayer

One of the things I love about Intercession is how I get to know people more through sharing and being able to support them or be supported in prayer. Over the last week or so, I experienced three prayer moments that I thought I’d share with you.

The first was when a lady at church looked at me and asked if she could pray for me. I had no idea why she did that, but she ended up speaking directly into my life and supporting me.

The second was at a worship night, where one of the worship leaders called up all the worshippers from the host church, which happened to be me and a handful of people from Glory of Zion, and prayed for us. It was really powerful, and again, there were a few bits from that that spoke directly to me.

The third was at Intercession this past Sunday, where we got to pray for someone who was going through a really rough time. We got to surround this person, lay hands on them, and pray for them.

Something that stood out from all these prayers was the aspect of community. If I’m being honest, I’m not really sure if the prayers made a significant change in my week, and I can’t speak for the other person, but what impacted me the most was not the prayer itself, but the fact that someone prayed.

We usually pray because we know God will do answer our prayers, but sometimes, that doesn’t happen, at least not in the way we think. Sometimes, the comfort we get from prayer is not that our prayer will be answered, but that God heard our prayer, and in His timing and divine plan, He has it all in His hands.

Another source of comfort is from those who chose to pray for us, even as we wait for God to do what He whatever He chooses to do. I don’t know about you, but I find it very comforting when people care enough to pray, no matter the length of the prayer.

Thank you to those who pray for others, whether they know it or not. Your prayers reach heaven, but also touch the hearts of those you pray for. May we all continue to love and support each other in prayer.
