We Need Both The Words And The Living Word

We Need Both The Words And The Living Word

Dear LifeSpring Family,

We are off to the races! 2025, here we come!

In fruitfulness, however one defines it, one wants to be fruitful and achieve it God’s way.

This brings me to our first scripture memory verse for 2025, John 15:5 – 8:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him,  he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it  will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”

It is so true that God’s word is rich and “sharper than a two-edged sword”. We can learn much and be encouraged by many things in these few short verses. I am sure that some of you, like myself, especially like verse 7 and probably memorised it.

However, I have learned in my life that memorizing scripture without intimacy with Christ is purely academic knowledge and my life may not necessarily reflect Jesus. On the other hand, when I ‘abide in Christ’ and have intimate fellowship with Him, scripture begins to have an impact in my life and I begin to fully experience Jesus, The Word. Memorizing scripture enhances our relationship with the Living Word.

Are you memorizing the word and in relationship with The Living Word?

Grace upon grace,

Jerry
