Faithful In The “Little”

Faithful In The “Little”

I was listening to someone share a testimony, and one thing he shared was about his training to be a bus driver. One detail the instructors were very particular about was following the dress code (shirt, dress pants and dress shoes) at every training, regardless of whether you were driving a bus or not. This rule was not always followed by the trainees as it seemed pretty trivial. After all, it was just clothing, right?

The instructor, however, said that “If you can’t follow instructions that are very simple and easy to do [such as wearing the uniform], how will you follow more complicated instructions to drive a bus?”

While hearing this, I felt the Lord highlight the verse

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…”

– Luke 16:10 (NIV)

During this week, the Lord kept reminding me of this. Right now, it’s been a little hectic with a new school schedule and more assignments than last semester, and I’m feeling overwhelmed with it all. In only the way God can, He gently reminded me that if I can’t be trusted with small things like that, how would I be able to be trusted with bigger things? In my mind, school seems like a very big assignment, but God reminded me that in His eyes, it’s quite small compared to the future ahead of me.

At this time last year, I was dealing with applying to universities as a homeschooler, which was a very long and challenging process. It was stressful, but in some ways, going through that prepared me for going into university. Who knows what going through university will prepare me for in days to come?

In life, our present struggles may seem insurmountable and challenging. However, God might have entrusted you with your situation in order to see whether you can be trusted with something greater, and maybe even prepare you for that. May He continue to guide and support you in whatever you are going through.
