Dear LifeSpring Family,
I’ve been memorizing scripture lately, and I wanted to share two verses that have been particularly impactful for me, especially since they share the same chapter and verse:
“For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
– John 1:16-17
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’ ”
– Romans 1:16-17
Reflecting on “grace upon grace” (or “blessings upon blessings”), I’m moved to be a blessing to those around me. Because this grace isn’t based on my own achievements, I can confidently bless others, even when it may not be reciprocated. This confidence allows me to stand tall and unashamed of the gospel, gratefully seizing every opportunity to testify that I am a child of God through Christ Jesus.
There is no other way for salvation except through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, live by faith.
I encourage you to ask God daily how you can be fruitful in gratitude for His grace.
Grace upon grace,
Jerry
