Pruning/Refining/Discipline
We were so blessed to have Carl & Rosy with us this past Sunday. Faithful and amazing warriors for the King – they have served, continue to serve, and plan to keep on serving Him. An example to us and a blessing to this world. As Carl was speaking yesterday, I felt the Lord highlight the following: Hebrews 12:6, 10-11 the Lord disciplines the one he loves…God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.…
Kingdom Parenting: Train Up A Child
When we talk about Kingdom Parenting we are trying to raise the huios (mature sons). Fully complete, lacking nothing. When we look at the ultimate mature son, Jesus Christ – we see a man who was raised and became a huios. He was one who did not just hear and ignore – He listened and obeyed. Kingdom Parenting is not just about one’s biological children, it is the people you influence and care for. I shared a testimony a couple…
Volunteer Appreciation
There are so many people to be thankful for at Lifespring. As a Kingdom Family, pretty much everyone serves in one way or another. Some will be part of a particular ministry, some will simply serve doing things in the background, with no recognition and no assignment. No matter which way you serve in this family – thank you so very much. As we serve the Lord as a Kingdom Family, I am reminded that we must always remember that…
#BlameDave
Another great privilege to hear from one of our own. Mae-Tuin Seto, who has served and been a blessing to the Lifespring family since the dawn of time, continues to serve as the Secretary on the Board of Directors, a Kidz Harbour Shepherd, and overall mom in the house. I titled this devotion, “#BlameDave”, not because it has anything to do with what I learned, but rather because it was funny. As Mae-Tuin was sharing and teaching us of strong…
Something to Give
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”1 John 3:16-18 I shared how God…
“God Sets the Lonely in Families”
Psalm 68:6 God sets the lonely in families Last week on a cold and rainy night around 10pm, I received a call from my office manager that one of our staff had become homeless. In trying to help this young man find shelter, there was a lot of back and forth and scouring the internet to try to find affordable housing. The shelters were full, it was too late to rent places, it was all in all very stressful. In…
Chapter 2
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.“1 John 3:16-18 Chapter 1:On September 12,…
Kingdom Parent & Kingdom Child
What a blessing it was to hear from Leona. There were so many gems and nuggets of wisdom for all of us in the church family, no matter where you are in your walk of faith. As Leona was sharing, she concluded with 2 very powerful statements that I believe are instrumental in who we are as a Kingdom Family. Come As You Are This entire year we have been focusing on Kingdom Parenting – in our focus we sometimes…
The Blessing is in the Breaking
We had the wonderful privilege of having Donna Parachin of Unstoppable Blessings come and speak to the church family. As she was preaching there were so many moments where the Holy Spirit gripped my heart. One of those “gems” as we like to call it on the Pastoral Team, is the line “The Blessing is in the Breaking”. As Donna spoke from Mark 6 (feeding the 5000), the 5 loaves and 2 fish became a miracle when Jesus had given…
Building Faith
2022 was the first year we have ever budgeted a deficit. We anticipated spending $75,000 more than we thought would come into the house. For all you financial gurus out there – that’s not good. For those who have no idea, it is not a good idea to consistently live at a deficit. In listening prayer and trying to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit – the Lord put on my heart the water wells. Thus, the 1st deficit budget at Lifespring since 2015…
Kingdom Parenting: Always Learning
Kingdom Parenting – Always Learning Being a Kingdom Parent is a life-long, intentional journey of learning. Growing from your mistakes, being humble to recognize errors, and finding God in every situation. Here are a few things that I have learned about parenting: 1. Open Palm:“Everything comes from You, and we have given You only what comes from Your hand.”1 Chronicles 29:14. Everything we have is the Lord’s – our job, our health, our wealth and even our family. It all comes…
Kingdom Parenting: Just Like Your Father
Another amazing and Spirit-filled Sunday! Thank you to Abby for sharing her testimony on becoming an intern at Lifespring and for Ada & Rodney (mainly Ada) speaking to the church family! As Ada shared how Jesus – the greatest Kingdom Parent – cared for others, she focused on how he did so in a holistic way. Caring for the human development in 5 significant areas: Jesus1. Physical Jesus met the physical needs of the people – feeding and healing 2. CognitiveJesus…
