Kingdom Parenting: Caught not Taught
This past Sunday we got to hear from 2 people that have personally made a big impact in my own life. Joe Chong and Alvin Koh. They shared amazing testimonies and experiences of how God used people in their lives to shape who they have become today. Joe shared of how Aunty Gracie would drive and care for him. She would make sure he knew that God loved him. She provided pastoral care and imparted in him how to be…
Kingdom Parenting: Genuinely Care for Others
As we inquired and sought the Lord for His will for the church family in 2023, He put on our hearts Kingdom Parenting. I wish I could tell you exactly what this means and the 5 steps to accomplishment this assignment – but the reality is that as we learn and grow in Kingdom Parenting, the Lord will reveal aspects, tools, insights, for us to grow in it. Whenever there is a God-given Purpose there will always be God-given Provision.…
2022 – For His Name’s Sake
2022 was full of amazing accomplishments through the action and generosity of the Lifespring family. Whether it was through the raising of over $75,000 for the water wells, giving over $15,000 for Ukraine Relief, and even giving over $20,000 to the Neighbourlink food bank – God truly showed us that we were blessed to be a blessing. Yet as I reflected on all the amazing things God has done in us, through us, and around us in 2022 – I…
Ready… Set… FAST
As I was preparing for this Sunday’s message about 2022, I read in my journal that 1 year ago at this exact time, the world went into another lockdown due to Covid-19 Omicron. It seems so long ago, but it was a mere 12 months ago! Reflecting on 2022 helped me remember that in the midst of all that happened and in the midst of all the changes and swings that occur – our constant anchor in life is Jesus.…
Opportunities
This week the Pastoral Team had the privilege of dropping off 10 hampers to families in need. The beautiful hampers made by you looked great, had fantastic gifts, and were truly a blessing! When we arrived to drop off our hampers, to be entirely honest with you – I thought that Lifespring had done her part and taking on 10 hampers was probably a bulk of what they need. However, we found out that they had 215 families sign up for hampers…
Purpose 2023: Kingdom Parenting
As an Eldership & Pastoral Team we fast and pray in the month of September seeking God for His purposes for the next year. As we sought the Lord we felt God put on our hearts “Kingdom Parenting”. “Kingdom Parenting” is not restricted to the idea of raising your own physical children – parenting is raising the people whom God has put around us to be all that He has called them to be. Paul refers to Timothy as “my…
We Love You – Jon, Brenda, Isaac
If you did not get a chance to hear Jon Koh speak yesterday, please take a listen: https://youtu.be/4fbw9HDxlOg?t=2248 There are many gems and much wisdom that can be gleaned, but today I want the entire church family to hear Jon & Brenda’s heart in our lead up to these moments: At our last AGM, I asked that every leader (Elders, Board of Directors, Deacons) engage in listening prayer to hear from God if they were in the right position. The…
Tithes & Offerings
Growing up in this church, I always saw people put money into a little plate – my parents would give me loonies to put in the offering plate – sometimes I did, sometimes it ended up in my pocket. It became routine as a child. In fact, the entire reason we do what we do for the children today is for that very reason – to model and teach our children the very basics of tithing – give to God.…
You Just Never Know
We had an amazing privilege to hear from Missionaries that Lifespring has partnered with for many years. Not everyone would know them, but everyone in this church family has sowed into them. Thailand Missionaries: Suwit, Dong & ZippyThey serve in a nation that consists of 93% Buddhist and >1% Christian As they shared, I felt the Lord wanted to highlight a testimony:10 years ago there was a flood that devastated the region. It was a crisis and they had faced…
A Broken & Contrite Heart
It is amazing to have a husband and wife combination on the same day. Sharing a testimony and giving us the Word – Rodney & Ada have been such a blessing to this church family and continue to do so. As Rodney & Ada shared their lives with amazing transparency – we could see the challenges that they have faced in the past and continue to face today. Challenges that we all face (work, upbringing) and challenges that are extraordinary…
Hello Neighbor!
What a blessing it was to hear from Power 2 Change – GAiN. Director of the Water for Life initiative, Steve, and manager of water sites in the Tanzania region, Geoffrey, came and spoke to the church family to encourage us and thank us for the partnership we have had over the years. As they shared the impact of what water can do – they challenged us to think of eternity. They painted us a picture of us, one day,…
Prayer of Serenity
It is always a joy to hear Pastor Alvin speak. Alvin & Patricia continue to serve the Lord through MissionGTA and through the many relationships they have across churches, denominations, and countries. As Pastor Alvin was sharing yesterday about change, I felt the Lord wanted to highlight to the church family the main line: Do you want to be BITTER or BETTER? The only difference between the two is the “I”. Change is unavoidable. In fact, the only guarantee in…
