A Fine Line
This week the Lord has been convicting me of sins of commission (acts) and omission (not doing what I am supposed to do). To be entirely honest with the church family, it got me kind of down. I was disappointed in myself, I was wrestling with guilt, and all in all I felt what the Scripture describes as “downtrodden”. Yet God, in His loving mercy, brought me to this Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7:8-10Even if I caused you sorrow by my…
Jesus Came To…
We had the privilege of having Lyndon Dojohn from GAiN come and speak to the Lifespring family for our Sunday Celebration. A man who has pastored for over 30 years and continues to love Jesus with his entire life. As Lyndon was sharing, he spoke a line that resonated with me: “Jesus came to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.” I felt God highlighting this line over and over and I just could not shake it. I felt that…
2022 – Year of Double Glory
This past Sunday we had the privilege of having Grandma Donna come speak to the Lifespring family. A fitting close to grandparents’ month. She encouraged us and spoke prophetically into what God is doing in the house and where we need to grow to walk through the assignment. Maturing Faith & Maturing WisdomAs the family of Lifespring matures in our faith and wisdom, it will require journeying and walking together. Relationships that are not just horizontal, but vertical as well (generational).…
Thank You Grandparents!
This month is our annual grandparents’ month here at Lifespring. We invite the grandparent generation to speak from the pulpit, we listen and learn from their experiences and we do our best to honour and thank them for being people who have shown and encouraged us to love God and love others. 1 Timothy 5:9-10No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, and is well known for…
His Name
What a privilege it is to have Perry Soh share with the church family. Perry & Catherine truly demonstrate what it means to Genuinely Love God and to Genuinely Care for Others. Their faithfulness over the years and their heart for the church inspires and pushes my family and I to be all that God has called us to be. As Perry was sharing yesterday, there were 3 slides that I felt the Lord highlight. As we focus on “For…
Annual Family Meeting
I want to thank the Elders, the Board of Directors, the Deacons, the Pastoral Team – 2021 finances is another year of faithfulness. Over the past 3 years we have been around the $500,000 tithing mark. Thank God for that. This shows that we have a strong and steady family – people who are committed and love this church – people who give their time, talent, and treasurers. Christianity is at an all time low since Stats Can started tracking…
Power of the Soul
When God created man, He created us in 3 parts: BodyOur bodies are made of dirt. From dirt we are made, to dirt we will return. SoulThe soul consists of your mind (conscious & sub conscious thoughts), your will (power to choose – decision making), and your emotions (feelings). The soul is the mediator between body and spirit – everything passes through the soul. SpiritOur spirit is what is resurrected when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. Our…
Genuine Care for Others
We had the privilege of hearing Elder Jon Koh speak to the Lifespring family. God has been stirring Jon & Brenda’s heart for many months now on how the church is to respond to a hurting world around us. As Jon challenged the church family from Acts 6 there were important highlights I believe God wants to speak to the church about. In the midst of a growing and maturing church there was a quarrel. There were widows who were…
A Life Worthy of the King
Ephesians 4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. God has a purpose for each of us. Purpose is the divine assignment we are given to carry heaven on earth (will look different for everyone). Each person’s purpose is different. Each is important. Each is God-given. Yet in the uniqueness of our God-given purposes, God in His wisdom helps to recognize and discern when we are on the…
For His Name’s Sake
For His Name’s Sake, when I first felt the Lord put this on my heart, I thought it was a push to step up and do things with excellence. To spur us on to good works and good actions. To do everything with the intention of glorifying God – which, please do not get me wrong, I believe is part of For His Name’s Sake. But when I dive into the Scripture, For His Name’s Sake is not used in…
Eyes on Jesus
Everything around us is changing… again. We have entered another lockdown, winter is upon us, children are at home for school, we are back to work – there is much that draws and needs our attention. Sometimes we focus so much on what is happening around us we forget to keep our eyes on Jesus. Karyne and I were talking to our eldest children (Justus & Hope) about fasting, they asked us why we are fasting? So we asked them,…
Why Make Every Effort?
2021 – Make Every Effort Kingdom Family – Genuine Love for God and Genuine Care of Others A warning that came in 2019 at the Family Weekend is that there is an enticing spirit that is coming against Lifespring. And although we have intentionally come up against this spirit (specifically Give in 2020 – decided to double our giving to many of our missionaries who have seen upwards of 75% drops in their donations), we recognize that the enticing spirit…
