He has risen!!!

Dear LifeSpring Family, This past Sunday we celebrated Easter Sunday. What a joyful and hopeful Sunday – He has risen!!! This past Sunday, Dorothy and I also had the opportunity and privilege of experiencing the Passover Seder meal at MLCF. One of the elements of the Seder meal are the three pieces of matzah bread. It was suggested by our facilitator from Chosen People Ministries that the three pieces of matzah bread represent the trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When you look at…

Pain With Purpose

Dear LifeSpring Family, This past Sunday, I was privileged to speak at our Mississauga church. The title of my sharing was Patient Endurance/Pain With Purpose.  The passage that I spoke on was Mark 4:35-41. This is a very familiar passage to all of us.  On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” [36] And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was.…

Saved by Grace for Good Works

Dear LifeSpring Family, I was so encouraged this past Sunday at our Volunteers Appreciation Celebration.  I, like many of you, have been blessed by the faithfulness of Perry and Catherine to our LifeSpring family. It reminded me of the verses found in Ephesians 2:8-10.  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship,…

Patient Endurance – Luke Chapter One

Dear LifeSpring Family, The books of Luke and Acts are unique in that they are only books in the New Testament written by a Gentile, one of us.  Assuming that the Apostle Paul did not write the book of Hebrews, as it is not conclusive on who wrote Hebrews, Luke wrote more of the New Testament than any other human writer did.  Zechariah, Elizabeth and Mary showed us patient endurance in their journey of unbelievable miraculous experiences with God and the angel Gabriel. As…

Patient Endurance for 2024 and Beyond

Dear LifeSpring Family, As some of us patiently endure and wait upon the Lord, the below liturgy for Seasons of Uncertainty reminded me that there is More Beyond.   In the midst of whatever follows, O Lord, let me meet your mercies anew, and anew, and anew.In the midst of my dismay, fix my eyes againand again upon your eternal promises. How this ends—that is up to you.If the next news is favorable, I willpraise you for the ongoing gift of life.If tomorrow’s…

What Are Core Values?

Dear LifeSpring Family, Earlier this week, our group discussed lesson 12 in the Lead Well study series. The title of the lesson is What Are Core Values? From the lesson, it reminds us that:  Core values can be understood through a variety of images. They are like: I made the observation that we all are guided by our core values. Whether we articulate them, write them down, share them with others, are intentional about them, are conscious about them or not,…

The Apostles’ Creed

Dear LifeSpring Family, Praying that all of you had a great Christmas and a time of thanksgiving, reflection and family gatherings around food. We hope that you were able to squeeze in some rest too.  Dorothy and I were invited to attend a Christmas Eve Service at Central United Church on Main Street Unionville. It was a great time to be with sisters and brothers in the Lord, celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the end of the…

The Power Of God’s Word

Dear LifeSpring Family, It is that time of the year again!!! Family, relatives, friends, parties, food and the myriad relationships in our lives. While for some, this is a great time of rest and relaxation, for others it can be a stressful time. Stressful because of the myriad relationships in our lives. Starting from the most intimate relationship of marriage and family to our most casual ones with our acquaintances. No matter which, God’s powerful word can help us to navigate these relationships…

Blessings for Everyone: Husbands, Fathers and Grandfathers

Dear LifeSpring, On my recent mission trip to Thailand and Singapore, I had a coffee meeting with a friend. He was excited to share with me the book he recently wrote. The book was about his life and how God played a central role in his life. In his book, he also shared a letter that his wife wrote to him. In her letter, among other things, she blessed him with the scripture found in Psalm 128, encouraging him with the…

God Knows!

Dear LifeSpring Family, Allow me to share an encouragement that I shared recently on my mission trip to Thailand. I was given the opportunity to share with my fellow sisters and brothers from Thailand Campus Crusade For Christ in Bangkok. The Lord led me to share from Nahum 1:7:  “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” I felt that the Lord wanted to remind them and us that “He knows those (us) who take refuge in him.” I don’t know about you, but sometimes as…

The Shema Prayer

Dear LifeSpring Family, One of the several verses that we memorized as a church family is the Jewish prayer called The Shema from Deuteronomy 6:4-9: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. It reminds and challenges us to teach and pass down our faith in Christ to our children. What are you modeling in your faith in Christ to your children? 1. Model a faith in Christ that fears the Lord. 2. Model a faith in Christ…

Body of Christ in LifeSpring

Dear LifeSpring Family, This past Sunday, Dorothy and I were blessed to be a part of our LifeSpring family in Mississauga. While worshipping with our sisters and brothers, the Holy Spirit led me to read Psalms 92:13-15 aloud to them.  “13  They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. 14  They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, 15  to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.” From the multi-generational worship team to the ladies who put on an unbelievable dinner spread, the whole body of Christ was on display. I was even surprised to hear that Pastor Eric added to his long…
