Blessed Christmas!
From our Life-Spring family to yours, we want to wish you a very merry and blessed Christmas! On behalf of the pastoral team, I want to express our heartfelt thanks for making this a wonderful year. From the mother’s day hampers to the Christmas pageant, and many other countless ways, we have shown together that Life-Spring is blessed to be a blessing. This would have been impossible without the contribution of so many of you, whether in providing food for…
From Equipping to Empowerment
At the beginning of this month, we launched Lifespring’s vision for 2023 (see it here: https://youtu.be/dvDYU138YMc?t=2725). I, for one, am excited about what we’ll be doing in the new year. When Uncle Perry spoke about the new season coming up for Lifespring, he mentioned that God would be taking us from a place of equipping to empowerment. But what does the journey from equipping to empowerment look like? I compare that journey to another journey in the Bible, that of…
Christmas Season
Last week, I had the opportunity to lead prayer for our weekly intercession meeting on Wednesday night. As I was doing listening prayer about where to focus our prayer that evening, my mind went to some of the events that Lifespring is involved in during December as well as some of the needs of people connected to the church. For this devotion, I hope that you can join us in prayer as we continue to lift up those in need…

Good Servant But Bad Master
Matt 6:31-33Therefore, don’t worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ Gentiles long for all these things. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Last Sunday, we heard a message from Gabe about tithing and how it connects to our identity as Kingdom…
Our Weakness, God’s Strength
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 Years ago, I started a simple document on my phone that lists all of the important Bible verses that I’ve tried to commit to memory. These days, that list is filled with church memory verses that we do…
Follow the Cloud
When Pharaoh let the people go, God didn’t lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, even though that was the shorter route. God thought, ‘If the people have to fight and face war, they will run back to Egypt’. So God led the people by the roundabout way of the Reed Sea desert…. The Lord went in front of them during the day in a column of cloud to guide them and at night in a…
Faith in Action
Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did…
Ask God, “Why?”
Search me, O God, and know my heart;test me and know my anxious thoughts.Point out anything in me that offends you,and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139: 23-24 When my Lifegroup last met, we worked through a session in discipleship level 2 about persevering through suffering and trials. As we each shared insights from the lesson, one topic that came up was the idea of asking God “why” questions. At certain times in our lives, we…
Love with Actions and in Truth
This past spring, the church family memorized 1 John 3:16-18 for our quarterly memory verse. During the month of September, the pastoral team has also been fasting together as we do listening prayer to prepare for the new year in January. As I spent some time thinking about the new year, the memory verse above from 1 John 3 came to mind. I think this verse gives us some clues about what God is up to in the Lifespring family,…
Testifying of God’s Goodness
It was wonderful to be with Ray, Kevin, and Andrea last Sunday as they took the step to be baptized and publicly declare their faith and commitment to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It was great to see so many faces old and new as we celebrated this major step in their lives and gathered with friends and family. One of my favorite parts of the baptism were the testimonies that Ray, Kevin, and Andrea shared. There was so…
Great to be Back!
It’s great to be back at Lifespring! As many of you know, I took a leave of absence from my duties on staff at the church from May to August in order to work on finishing my dissertation (read about that here: https://www.life-spring.org/making-every-effort/). I can gladly say that I now have just over 175 pages of my dissertation written, out of a total of around 225 pages. I’ll be sending a more detailed update and thank-you to the church family…
