Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.– Psalms 1:1-3
Blessings of Fruitfulness comes from being planted in the living waters of Jesus Christ. A close relationship with Jesus bears much fruits.
Strangely, this is reflected in the Chinese character ‘FU’, which means blessing.
The Chinese language is over 3,000 years old, and although it has evolved, the main components are still in use. On the left of the character is 礻, which can signify spirituality or God (神, shén). On the top right side, we have 一 (yī, “one”) and 口 (kǒu, “mouth”), which together could represent a single mouth or a single person. Lastly, on the bottom right side, we have 田 (tián, “field”), which by association might point to a piece of cultivated land like a garden.
When we turn to Genesis 2:15, there was one person with God in the garden. This is the picture of Blessing – a close relationship with God, walking in a garden, talking, laughing and just chilling out. Another time this appears in the Bible is in Mark 14:32, when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane. In Mark 14:33-35, He took Peter, James and John away from the others and then He separated Himself to be alone with GOD. In the darkest hour of our Lord Jesus Christ, HE came to be alone with God the Father – a Blessing for all of us. Look at the Cross in the garden character. Isn’t it interesting that 2,000 years before Christ, someone put a cross in the garden character?
Jesus is the source of all Blessings. The Living Water gives life and nutrients for your fruitfulness.
“Remain in Me and I will remain in you.”
– John 15:4
Do your daily devotions – read God’s word and pray. Form a habit to commune with God daily. This is the vertical part of Matthew 22:37 – Love God.
Secondly, Blessings of Fruitfulness is for others. Just like the fruits on a tree are not meant for the tree itself, your fruitfulness is to be enjoyed by others. Your spiritual fruits are to be harvested, especially within the Christian community. Together with your spiritual gifts, they are to build up the church. Maybe you could ask yourself, “what fruits am I producing? Is there someone who is enjoying my fruit of patience, or my fruit of kindness, etc?” This is the horizontal part of Matthew 22:37 – Love Others. Fruits grow on the horizontal part of the cross. God has blessed you abundantly in fruitfulness to abound in every good work.
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
– 2 Corinthians 9:8
“In all things at all times” – this is the Kairos moment. An Opportune time is set up for you to be a blessing. Please do not miss it.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
– Numbers 6:24-26
