Devotions (Page 32)
“Ignite” for Jesus
Dear LifeSpring Family By the time you are reading this devotional, we will have landed in Abbotsford International Airport, God willing. Dorothy and I are on our way to Power To Change’s Staff Conference. This will be the first time in about 4 years since we are together as staff of Power To Change. We are looking forward to reconnecting to over 500 fellow missionaries from all over Canada and some from around the world. I have included a picture of the…
Shifting the Weight II
A couple months ago I wrote an article called “Shifting the Weight” for Love is Moving, a ministry of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) that publishes articles digitally as well as in print three times a year. I’ve written for them a few times before but hadn’t written an article in quite some time. I had been talking with a friend back in March about some of my experiences going to the gym and about some of the deeper…
Mezuzah
We had the honour of having Kar Peng, deacon at Lifespring, share his testimony of how God saved him, encountered him, and released him to be a blessing. As Kar Peng was sharing, I felt God wanted to encourage this family that there is much yet to come. Like Kar, many of us have had encounters with God. His real, tangible, and overwhelming presence has swept over us and God has truly saved and encountered us. Yet sometimes the encounters…

Who Helps You?
Dear LifeSpring Family, It is good to be home after 3 weeks of traveling on missions in Thailand and Singapore. Of course, international travel these days poses unique challenges, and flying out of and back to Pearson International Airport with all its recent challenges requires faith. Faith that your flight does not get canceled and/or your luggage ends up in a different airport in the world. The faith that Dorothy and I have is encouraged by the scripture that the pastoral…
Let the Marbles Roll
I’ve had some really awesome conversations this week and many of them have been around the theme of surrender… Whether or not the conversations began there or were expected to land there… Surrender was the destination all along. Interestingly, all of the conversations were with women who are sensing a major task ahead of them. The tasks vary and I was speaking with authors and speakers, a politician and entrepreneur… regardless of what they are working towards there are many…
Plow & Sow
We had such an amazing privilege to hear from 2 missionaries during our Sunday Celebration. Mary ChoA missionary to Sierra Leone who works with the blind and the deaf. She left Toronto (as a Durham teacher for 15 years working with the deaf) to follow where God was directing her. An amazing woman whose heart is revealed with every word (almost always quivering with love) – her heart cry is that though the world may have forgotten about Sierra Leone…
Don’t put the shovel down
This week our devos have all been flowing out of the message Donna preached on Sunday and today’s is no different! There were so many parts that challenged me, encouraged my heart and strengthened my spirit as she taught us. One of the parts that struck me the most and has been helpful for me even throughout this past week was this one: “Don’t put the shovel down because of offence. Don’t put the shovel down because we hit a…
The Cloak Of Wisdom
I hope that many of you were blessed by Donna’s message this past Sunday. She dropped a lot of “gems” that I believe are in season for Lifespring. One of the gems she dropped was this line: “Fear likes to cloak itself with Wisdom” When I heard that line something in my spirit clicked. As I sat with that thought in my head, I couldn’t help but reflect on my most recent decisions. The question I asked myself was:Was it…
Keep On Going
What an amazing presence of God all throughout Sunday Celebration. From worship, to Sari’s testimony, to Donna – there was a tangible and thick presence of God. A presence in which one could rest and stay in – a presence in which it seems all troubles and challenges fade away – a presence in which the peace of God fills you right up. And when the final prayers are lifted, the joy of community fades, and work/responsibilities come rushing back……
Morning Glory
Today’s devo is a bit like a part two of my previous gardening revelations… Last time I wrote about the grapevines growing in my backyard and briefly mentioned another vine/plant I had noticed called the Morning Glory. Not only is the Morning Glory another vine, it is also technically a weed! Fortunately for us, the morning glories in our yard are all growing up along the fence and bring beauty to the gardenscape… rather than overtaking other plants or squashing…
Full Full
What a tremendous privilege it was to have our Board of Directors – Secretary, Mae Tuin, share with us this past Sunday. A glimpse into the lives of Dave & Mae-Tuin and the goodness of God that surrounds them. As Mae-Tuin was sharing, I felt like God wanted to highlight a word for the family; part of maturity is responsibility. We become responsible over self and as God trusts, responsible to care for others. I truly believe that the assignment…
