Devotions (Page 37)
Weapons of Choice
On Sunday we heard from Jari Koivu on what was going on in Ukraine, not just what was happening in the physical realm but what was happening in the Spiritual realm. People who had left Ukraine for safety were coming back to help those they left behind because of a call from God, soldiers and military personnel were abandoning their stations and leaving their tanks with no visible reason. There was something happening in the unseen that was causing a…
Love with Actions and in Truth
1 John 3: 16-18: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Since 2019,…
Blind Spots
In our Pastoral Team Meetings, we have been working our way through some potential mens’ ministry curriculum. The Quest for Authentic Manhood. This is not a quest I had ever imagined taking… and it very obviously looks quite different for me than it does for the rest of our team. I confess I have been skeptical and eye-rolly about it, especially towards the beginning. But this curious thing called “pleasantly surprised” has been happening more and more as we sit…
His Name
What a privilege it is to have Perry Soh share with the church family. Perry & Catherine truly demonstrate what it means to Genuinely Love God and to Genuinely Care for Others. Their faithfulness over the years and their heart for the church inspires and pushes my family and I to be all that God has called us to be. As Perry was sharing yesterday, there were 3 slides that I felt the Lord highlight. As we focus on “For…
Lent
Dear LifeSpring Family, Dorothy and I are responding to P2C’s call to prayer and fasting for this 40 Days of Lent. I did not know that the 40 Days of Lent does not include Sundays. Below is the first Sunday of Lent devotions from CRU International. It’s Sunday — a day to rest. Did you know that ever since Jesus died and rose again, each Sunday is like a mini Easter? In addition to resting, like God commanded in the Old…
Audacity
When I think about the life of Jesus, there are many words that come to mind when describing how he lived, like sincere, kind, pure, willing, humble etc. But when I was thinking about His life the word Audacity came to me. As I sat with the word and looked up its definitions, I could understand how Jesus would have been viewed as Audacious during the time he was living in. For readers, the definitions of Audacity I’m referring to…
GOD is Faithful and HIS Grace is more than sufficient
GOD is Faithful and HIS Grace is more than sufficient. PS 23:3 – He leads me in the paths of righteousnessFor His name’s sake. NKJV Firstly, I want to comment all those wonderful and marvelous devotions that were written every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There are so many “gold nuggets” to be found in those writings. I really appreciate the creative funny captions on those Photos. They bring smiles and laughter for the day. Thanks Andrew. Keep up the good…
A Call To Prayer
Earlier this week, my school (Fuller) put out a call to prayer for Ukraine. This call to prayer helped to guide and inspire my own prayers, and hopefully you find it helpful as well as you pray for the ongoing crisis. Here are some parts: “Tragically, human beings are inclined toward war. We see it again vividly and tragically unfolding in Ukraine with Russia’s invasion. We remember all in our community whose own lives, or those of family and friends,…
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent… unless you count Shrove Tuesday (the day we eat pancakes for dinner :P) As a church we just finished a month-long fast in January, but Lent is a 40-day fast that the Global Church participates in together. The premise of Ash Wednesday is to bring our attention back towards the cross in a new way. We consider the fact that from dust we were made and to dust we will one day return……
Annual Family Meeting
I want to thank the Elders, the Board of Directors, the Deacons, the Pastoral Team – 2021 finances is another year of faithfulness. Over the past 3 years we have been around the $500,000 tithing mark. Thank God for that. This shows that we have a strong and steady family – people who are committed and love this church – people who give their time, talent, and treasurers. Christianity is at an all time low since Stats Can started tracking…
We Pray
With the current climate of the Russian and Ukraine Conflict, we have been responding the best way we know how – Prayer. We might not have all the strategies, resources, and abilities, or even influence that could perhaps make a difference but we do know a God who does all those things and is all those things. At Lifespring, most of us know first hand how powerful prayer is any situation we present to God. So when presented with a…
Family Day & Our Home
With Family Day just a couple days behind us, I’m finding myself reflecting on family much more than usual. Within my own immediate family there are some pretty significant changes up ahead as my parents prepare to move to Finland. My sister and I have our own places and, in a mystery that Little Laura never could have anticipated, we’re in our thirties and our family unit is back to being “just the four of us”. And it is beautiful…
