Exodus 16 (NLT)
Manna and Quail from Heaven
16 Then the whole community of Israel set out from Elim and journeyed into the wilderness of Sin,[a] between Elim and Mount Sinai. They arrived there on the fifteenth day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt.[b] 2 There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.3 “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”
4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions. 5 On the sixth day they will gather food, and when they prepare it, there will be twice as much as usual.”
(Scroll down)
16 These are the Lord’s instructions: Each household should gather as much as it needs. Pick up two quarts[c] for each person in your tent.”
17 So the people of Israel did as they were told. Some gathered a lot, some only a little. 18 But when they measured it out,26 everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed.
19 Then Moses told them, “Do not keep any of it until morning.” 20 But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.
Many of you know the story of the Manna and Quail from Heaven, that was sent to feed the Israelites in the wilderness after coming out from Egypt, which would eventually be their source of food for the rest of their journey. But what I want to do is share with you, what I believe God wants me to share with the Life-Spring Family.
The Lord provided the Israelites food from heaven. Each day people would be able to go out and pick as much food as they needed for the day. It’s important to note that they were not able to keep their food until the next morning as it would go bad (Refrigerators weren’t around then). But I choose to believe that God was trying to teach them something through this. God also mentioned that He would test them in this to see if they would follow His instructions.
So when it came time for Moses to relay God’s instructions, he told each household to gather as much as is needed. Some gathered a lot and some only a little but when everything was said and done, everyone had just enough. Each family had just what it needed.
I believe that this is a word for the Life-Spring Family: Each family will have just enough, each family will have just what they need. I believe that no matter where you are on your journey of life, God has enough for you and all your needs.
You see, God made it rain food from heaven for the Israelities but they still had to go out and pick up as much as they needed for the day. I believe God is saying that He has everything you need but you need to come to Him and pick up as much as you need for the day.
I am reminded time and time again that God is looking for a real relationship with us. I believe if He gave us everything we’d need on Monday for the week, we wouldn’t go back to Him until the following Monday (or maybe it’s just me). But God knows better than that, actually God knows us better than we do. He wants us to come to Him daily. He wants us to fully put our trust in Him and the only way we could do that is through constant relationship with Him.
I believe on this journey of life, there are going to be days where we’re going to come to God and need a whole lot (Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually) and there are going to be days where we might only need a little from Him. But when we realize God is the source of all things, when everything is said and done, no matter what we need, as long as we go to our father, we will have just enough.
Whether we are in the Hills or the Valley, God has given us a direct lifeline through His son Jesus Christ, that whoever comes to Him will never go hungry and thirsty again. In John 6:35 Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
My prayer for you LifeSpring is to know that God is Enough. His Word is Enough, His Son was and is Enough, and if you walk with Him, you will have Enough. I pray that as we walk this journey of Maturity and Making Every Effort, that we would come to God daily, receiving all He has to give and all we need for the day. I pray that we would learn to tap into the source, that is God, for all our needs; Physically, Emotionally, & Spiritually. God, we need you in both the mountaintop and the valley the same. We pray that each family will have just what they need to live out your purpose. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
