Today is election day! If you haven’t already, please take the time to educate yourself and go out and vote!
Lifespring is called to be the huios (mature sons). We are called to grow in maturity. The challenge with this call, however, is that with maturity comes responsibility.
As we mature and take on new and more difficult tasks – the reality is that everything comes with greater responsibility.
When you work full time and receive a salary – you are expected to come to work on time and complete your assignments. If you are like Ryan working towards a PHD you need to read your books, write your thesis, and complete the requirements given to you. If you are like Andrew, pursuing a Master of Divinity in Counselling, you need to complete 800 hours of counselling hours. If you are like Josh Lee and buying his first house, you will have the responsibility of mowing the lawn, shoveling the driveway, and even making sure the furnace is well maintained.
In order to be mature in these areas, these are responsibilities that need to be completed and taken care of. One cannot grow in maturity while not learning to be responsible.
In an election, being mature enough to vote means one should be responsible to know who and what they are voting for. Do not vote blindly, see who lines up with the word of God and vote in the ways of God.
But no matter what the outcome of today’s Federal Election. Remember we are still ruled and reigned by the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We vote, but more importantly we pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed (holy) is your name. Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
