Dear LifeSpring Family,
When I was reading Laura’s devotion on Monday, the Lord reminded me of a verse that I am currently meditating on.
Laura quoted the verse in Romans 5:5:
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
There are too many instances in my life where shame has been too close a “friend” of mine on my journey of life.
Not being smart enough. Not being successful enough. Not being rich enough. Not being tall enough. Not being enough.
This brings me to the current verse that I am meditating on:
Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16
The Lord reminded me whenever I feel “not enough” that He who in every respect has been tempted as I am, yet without sin, is my “enough” in life.
Therefore, I will hold fast to my confession and with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that I may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of my “not enough”.
Grace upon grace,
Jerry
