Dear LifeSpring Family,
Recently, I have been thinking and meditating on something that I heard from a Tim Keller sermon. Dr. Keller asked the question on how I see myself. Do I see myself as the world sees me or as Abba Father sees me?
The world sees me by what I acquire and accumulate:
Mostly good things like education, positions, titles, house, property, wealth, marriage, children and list goes on.
Abba Father sees me by what I give up and give away:
Like my personal rights, forgiveness, tithing, preferring others before self, time, talent, treasure and list goes on. I am thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ modelled this way of living and seeing Himself. The Gospel is all about our Lord Jesus Christ and giving up and giving away.
“Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Luke 12:33-34
I am thankful and so proud of our LifeSpring family for so many of us are focused on “treasure in the heavens”. There is a saying by C.S Lewis:
Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.
How do you see yourself and what are you aiming at?
Grace upon grace,
Jerry
