As God continues to reveal who we are as Lifespring – the reminder and underlying current is always a Kingdom Family: Genuine Love for God, Genuine Care for Others. We may not know what that looks like exactly, but I do find that God reveals a little bit at a time – teaching us to truly be a Kingdom Family that represents Him.
As I was doing my devotions in Genesis, I found a part of Scripture that really jumped out at me. Found in Genesis 14, there is a powerful army that sweeps through the known land. In their power and strength they conquer Sodom and Gomorrah and capture Lot, Abram’s nephew. When word of Lot’s capture reached Abram, the Scripture says:
Genesis 14:14-15
When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them
I felt the Lord highlighting Abram’s response to his family being in trouble. Lot (Abram’s nephew) was in a dire situation. He was attacked, oppressed, victimized, and overall in bad shape. Abram’s response was swift and decisive. Abram responded immediately to an intimidating threat (powerful army), risked his own life, and dropped everything he was doing to help his family.
God was challenging me to do the same. Here at Lifespring we have people all around us who are hurting. We see people who are under attack, oppressed, victimized, overall in bad shape. We may not have to be like Abram where we gather men, risk our own lives, and go to war to save our brothers and sisters… but I believe the principle stays true – a Kingdom Family responds to needs.
1 John 3:16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters
I wanted to remind the Lifespring family of a vision I saw during Covid. During the 10 plagues in Egypt, all throughout the calamity there was a land called Goshan where the Israelites lived. During the plagues, this land was miraculously spared from the destruction that surrounded them. I saw a picture of a clear dome and 2 people standing inside the dome looking out at all the destruction that was happening around them, they looked in awe and curiosity. Then the Lord diverted my eyes to another area where a man (whom I knew to be Moses somehow), also inside the dome of protection. But instead of simply looking at the destruction happening all around him – he was on his knees, hands lifted high, praying for the mercy of God. Then I heard the Lord say to me, “Be Like Moses”.
I believe that as we mature as a Kingdom Family, we need to learn to respond not with curiosity – but with a genuine care for others. And that looks like Abram when he responded to a need physically. It looks like Moses who responded with genuine prayer (spiritually). Let us continue to grow in this journey together.
Take a moment and ask the Lord if there is anyone you should do something for or pray for – hear and obey.
