This year God has been pushing us to focus on Maturity. We felt that the Lord will help us to track our growth by the 3 Gs (Give, Go, Grow). Yesterday as we talked about Living Generously – we tackled why Living Generously is important
Motivations for Living Generously
- Experiencing God’s love and generosity in our own lives
When we experience the love, generosity, grace, compassion, … of God, we can’t help but share that love with others. Something so good cannot be contained, it always results in an overflow
Where would you be without Jesus?
- Understanding that we are stewards and not owners
Everything is God’s! God simply allows us to steward the things that we think are “mine”. When we recognize that our homes, our finances, even our children are HIS. We begin to understand that the King always provides.
Do you ask God what to do with your home? your finances? your children? Owners decide what to do, managers carry out the assignment
- Knowing that we will all be judged one day
We don’t all start at the same place – but we all end at the judgment seat of God. God will judge all of us not against one another – He will judge what we have done with the talents He has given us. Whether it be 5, 2, or 1.
Jesus says to the stewards who doubled their talents: “Well DONE good and faithful…”
- Principle: Reap what you sow
Be generous in your sowing as one can only reap after one sows! We need to be generous in sowing not just in our finances but in our love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Sow these with others and you will reap the same in the time to come.
As we journey together as the Lifespring family may we be people who Live Generously, not for our sake, but for His sake. Not because we HAVE to, but because we WANT to. Only then will we become the light of the world.
