Living in Favour

Jeremiah 32:38-41
38 They will be my people, and I will be their God. 39 I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. 40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. 41 I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

In 2018, Donna prophetically spoke that this house would enter a season of ridiculous favour. When I look back over the last 2 years – I can see that this word is true, living, and we are still in this season. But what does favour look like?

As I explored those in the Bible who had favour upon them I saw that the favour of God surrounded them.

Joseph becomes second to only Pharoah.
David became King and High Priest of a nation, though he was meant to be a Sheppard
Jacob prospered at everything he put his hand to

Favour comes in many ways and is visible, even in this household – Alvin can network, Samantha Tse can Tech, Ry can sound, Laura can kids, Jerry can talk… list goes on.

How many continue to work in this pandemic? How many have homes? cars? savings?

Favour is not by our own might, but by God’s spirit
Favour is greater than silver and gold
Favour is VISIBLE

In Jeremiah 32:41 it says “I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me”. Part of favour is learning is not just receiving good things – favour is also learning to fear the Lord. Not because we fear a punishment – rather we fear being outside of God’s presence – we fear living life like a fish out of water.

The greatest favour is not in the possessions, the greatest favour is growing in the fear of the Lord (walking in righteousness).

Is the fear of the Lord (walking in righteousness) visible in our lives?

Father, help this family as we grow in maturity. May we not be like spoiled children – only wanting to receive gifts and treats – but may we look beyond material possession and grow in the ultimate favour – “that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them”
Have your way in our lives Lord.
Amen.
