We had the privilege of having our elder, Jonathan Koh, preach and teach to the family yesterday. I believe as Jon spoke, as a church family we are truly challenged on the next steps of the journey we call Maturity.
In a world where the Bible has become opinion more so than Scripture, it can be difficult standing with God. Yet Jon brings us through an amazing encounter with Jesus and a woman caught in adultery. Jesus shows us how to show both Justice & Mercy.
Karyne and I recently had a conversation about some of the choices and actions of others around us. It was frustrating to hear some of the words and see some of the actions. We voiced our opinions and at the end of it all it could be categorized by judgment, condemnation, pride, and even self-righteousness.
As God started to convict us and we allowed the Holy Spirit to renew our minds – we realized we were in the wrong. We were not showing mercy, we were simply focused on justice. God started to change our minds. Let our hearts break that some of the words and actions of people we love are a result of being tricked by the enemy. The result of believing a lie.
As God convicted us and we repented – our prayers turned to that of compassion and of mercy. Our prayers turned from judgment to prayers of breakthrough.
God is challenging the Lifespring family. Will we be like Jesus.
