1 Samuel 17:45 (ESV)
“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin,
but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have
defied.”
I know well enough that following our Lord Jesus Christ changes my priorities. That calling myself Christian changes what I value. And as I journey with our Lord Jesus Christ over all these years, I am reminded of that famous hymn, Turn Yur Eyes Upon Jesus.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full, in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.
Many things have strangely grown dim but many things in my life still burn brightly over Jesus’ glory and grace. The priority of my comfort is something I struggle over the priority of “the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have
defied.”
Questions that I ask myself are:
What does it mean to imitate Him?
What does it mean to walk in His steps?
Am I ready to follow our Lord Jesus Christ all the way?
Finally, am I willing to hand over my stone of Priority to His faithful hands to break, shape and remould as He wishes? Are you?
