Dear LifeSpring Family,
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,”
Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
In the middle of preparing my sermon for this coming Sunday’s Thanksgiving service, the Lord brought Colossians 3:23 to mind. The question of quality and excellence in my preparation challenged me. Am I going to practice this skill and attitude in my preparation or am I going to be a “game player” that relies and “float” on a cushion of natural talent? According to NBA Coach, Pat Riley in his book, The Winner Within, every team and player has to learn that excellence isn’t a destination. It’s a process that must be continually improved. Am I on this process towards quality and excellence?
- What do I believe about quality/excellence and who God is?
- How do I see myself in relation to God’s call to quality/excellence?
- What is the relationship of quality/excellence in what I do?
It is hard and tiring to be always giving your best/heart in all you do. Yet if I intentionally take my eyes off myself and focus on The King and our relationship, I want, no I desire to give my heart/quality/excellence in all I do. For I am not serving human masters but The King.
