Dear LifeSpring Family
This past weekend Dorothy and I had the privilege of serving God and 106 couples at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville. We were a part of the team of FamilyLife Canada at our Weekend Getaway event.
The Lord reminded me of my need of seeking and granting forgiveness in my marriage relationship. The verse from Colossians 3:13 (TLB) reminds me of this.
“Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
The speaker couple suggested that when seeking and granting forgiveness, the below could be a helpful guide.
Seeking Forgiveness
” I was wrong to do/say ________________.”
” I’m sorry I made you feel ______________.”
” I am going to try not to do that again.”
” Please forgive me.”
Granting Forgiveness
” I forgive you for _____________________.”
” I felt _______, when you said/did that.”
” Thank you for acknowledging your behavior and my feelings.”
” I’m choosing to let this go and I won’t hold it against you anymore.”
Who is the Lord asking you to seek forgiveness from? And who is the Lord asking you to forgive?
Be bold and go on a faith adventure with God by being obedient to His promptings.
Blessings
Jerry
