In 2018, our Hope Deacon – Joshua Wee – brought up the idea of giving winter & summer care packages. It was birthed when Josh saw a man asking for help at a routine red light. God gave him an idea that the church has adopted and will continue to adopt – to always have something to give, to simply care.
As a confession, whenever I would see a person at a red light in need, my immediate reaction was to NOT make eye contact and pretend to fiddle with something in the middle of the car until the person passed by. But since the care packages, not only do I try to get their attention to give them a care package, my children always know that we have something to share and they are part of the giving.
1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth
As the Lifespring family, as God continues to grow us in maturity, grow us in our faith, in our character, in our lives – one common theme keeps coming to mind:
Growing in Faith means Growing in Action
We don’t know what our actions can do, but we can believe in a great God who can take a stick and split the red sea, who can take 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed the thousands, who can take His voice to calm a raging sea.
Growing in faith, will always cause us to grow in action. Get ready for it.
