This month is our annual grandparents’ month here at Lifespring. We invite the grandparent generation to speak from the pulpit, we listen and learn from their experiences and we do our best to honour and thank them for being people who have shown and encouraged us to love God and love others.
1 Timothy 5:9-10
No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord's people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds
Although this Scripture is for the purpose of caring for widows, I felt the Lord highlight the grandparent generation in these words. As we listed and prayed for the grandparent generation by name at our last intercession – it was amazing to continuously pray, continue praying, pray some more, pray again… until we ran out of time!
We have so many in the grandparents generation that are faithful, that are well known for their good deeds, that have done an amazing job bringing up their children, that have always showed hospitality, that have and continue to wash the feet of the Lord’s people, they always help those in trouble and devote themselves to all kinds of good deeds.
Our church is full of worthy grandparent generation children of the King.
I speak on behalf of my generation – we love you so much. We are so thankful for you. We will do our best to pass it on. Words are not enough and actions will never reveal how thankful we really are.
We are so blessed to have you. We really really love you.
