That’s Just The Way It Is

That’s Just The Way It Is

This past Sunday, Andrew led us in creating the Winter Care Packages. He had so many gems, so please take a moment to listen to it here.

As I listened to Andrew speak on seeds, watering, and God causing it to grow, I was reminded of a video I watched this week: The monkey ladder experiment.

It is quite a silly video, but it hammers in a point. It shows how the actions and teachings of the 1st few (seed planters) can have effects even when the seed planters are no more. Over 5 years ago Josh Wee had an idea. Whenever we come to a place where there is a person in need – instead of naturally avoiding and not having anything – we would intentionally engage and be prepared to be a blessing. It started with very simple packs and has evolved into cleaning supplies and protein. These care packages have even been adopted by Joseph Wee’s company and Karyne’s company as they too have created care packs for those in need.

When the children came and started building the care packs, I saw that they were both engaged and excited. When my children see a person in need, they immediately point it out and ask if they can be the ones to give the care packs. My children do not know that Joshua Wee planted the seed, they do not know that Ryan and Jerry helped water it, and they do not know that Andrew helped nurture the seed. They simply know that ‘That’s’ Just the Way It Is’.

I’ll be honest, I hope they learn and capture one day why we do what we do. But I am glad that caring and giving to those in need is simply what we do here at Lifespring. I don’t know who is going to keep watering the seeds. Maybe it will be someone from Wildfire, maybe it will be someone from Kingdom Kids, or maybe it will be someone we don’t even know yet! But as Andrew taught, it is God that will make it grow!

Today, we give care packs. Maybe tomorrow, we’ll open a food bank. Maybe next year, we’ll sponsor refugees. We don’t have a plan, but we simply listen well and obey quickly. Let God grow the rest.
