The Full Assurance of Faith

The Full Assurance of Faith

Dear LifeSpring Family,

As a teenager in Singapore, my Sunday School teacher got us to memorise Hebrews 10:24:

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,”

This was of course an effort by the Sunday School teacher to get young teenage boys to behave in class and to think of others beside themselves. Two things that do not come naturally to teenage boys.

In the last couple of years, I have taken up the spiritual discipline of memorising God’s work. So naturally, I looked up old favorite verses to commit to memory. It is easier to start that way. At the same time, I expanded the range to include verses 23 and 25:

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

This past Sunday, Elder Rodney led us into living out Hebrews 10:23 to 25. I am so thankful to be a part of our LifeSpring family, to be prayed for and to pray for others, stirring up one another to love and good works, and meeting together as we see the Day drawing near. Thank you LifeSpring family for helping me to hold fast to my confession of the hope I have in our Lord Jesus Christ. For He is faithful.

See you all this Sunday and maybe even play pickleball together.

Below is the full section on Hebrews 10:19 – 25:

The Full Assurance of Faith

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good  works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Grace upon grace to all of you and your loved ones.

Jerry
