The Lord Will Rule the Earth

The Lord Will Rule the Earth

Zechariah 14 New Living Translation (NLT)

The Lord Will Rule the Earth
6 On that day the sources of light will no longer shine, 7 yet there will be continuous day! Only the Lord knows how this could happen. There will be no normal day and night, for at evening time it will still be light. 8 On that day life-giving waters will flow out from Jerusalem, half toward the Dead Sea and half toward the Mediterranean, flowing continuously in both summer and winter. 9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.

As I was reading the word this morning, Zechariah 14 titled “The Lord Will Rule the Earth.” I highlighted the verses that I felt the Lord speaking to me.

I felt the Lord say to me “Only He knows how this could happen.” With all that is going on it is natural to ask questions like God, why is this happening? How could this happen to your people? How long will this last? and as much as we want to know the answers I was reminded that Only He knows…

When I read “that there will be no normal day and night,” I felt this to be true today, as someone who relies on routine and schedules to function throughout the day, it has been chaotic making constant adjustments and trying to find that new normal. I felt the Lord say that this is not a bad thing, as I want to disrupt your normal so that you can see what I’m doing and hear what I want to say to you.

I can’t help but be reminded of a quote that I heard saying “Your greatest opportunities will come in the most inconvenient times.” Yes our normal is being disrupted but will we view this as an opportunity or as an inconvenience?

When reading verse 8 I felt the Lord say “Lifespring will flow out life-giving waters, continuously in both summer and winter.” It is no coincidence that our theme in this season is to “Give, Go & Grow.” I believe that Lifespring is to be a source of life-giving waters to the people all around us and that we are called to do so in every season. Might I add that I find it interesting waking up to snow on the ground in the middle of spring, after just having days of sunny weather. God has been preparing Lifespring for a time such as this and my question that I pose to you all is this:

What opportunity has God placed in your hands?
An opportunity to Give, an opportunity to Go or an opportunity to Grow?

I close with this prayer:
Father I thank you for your word. You have challenged us and encouraged us to find the good among the bad and  to know that you are still rule over all the earth. I want to declare verse 9 when it says “And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped.” God you are king over all the earth and we will lift up your name and worship you alone! Thank you for giving us the ability to hear your voice, especially in a time like this. We pray that you would continue to speak to us daily and flow out of us a life-giving water! In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
