The Power of Scriptures

The Power of Scriptures

Dear LifeSpring Family
As we have been on this journey of maturing together, scripture memory is one key tool and exercise that helps me in my growth.

Not too long ago, Andrew suggested and submitted 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 to the pastoral team to memorize. Looking back, it might be Andrew was preparing for marriage when he submitted this verse to the team. While 1 Corinthians 13 is often associated with weddings and marriages, it is actually God’s directions on how to live a mature Christian life.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

While I have memorized these verses, living them out in my primary relationships has been somewhat challenging. I am still working on the first half of verse 4 with my relational oneness with Dorothy. “Love is patient and kind;”. Memorizing these verses has saved me a lot of grieve in my day-to-day oneness with Dorothy. Although I am still allowing God’s “two-edged sword” of the first part of verse 4 to change me, I am looking forward to maturing and changing into more like our Lord Jesus Christ in my relationship with Dorothy.

Try it and see what God will do in your life and the relationships around you.
