Dear LifeSpring Family,
Ever since the vaccine for Covid-19 became available, there has been much said, written, and posted about whether one should vaccinate or not.
In the past several weeks up to today, I have had several discussions about the merits of one or the other. Today I had lunch with a colleague of mine from FamilyLife Canada, who has decided not to be vaccinated. And around dinnertime, I made a call to our dear friends in Kelowna out of concern about the forest fires around their homes. They are also in the older “vulnerable” sector of our population. Naturally, the phone call turned towards the topic of COVID-19 vaccinations. They too have decided to wait and not get vaccinated. Full disclosure, I am fully vaccinated. In the many discussions surrounding this question, and many of these discussions were with brothers and sisters from LifeSpring, I have never felt that our relationship was ever questioned. I thank our Lord for this posture as I can see that He has been working in our individual journeys towards being more Christ-like.
It reminded me of 1 Peter 5:5:
Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5
There will be many topics and issues that we will have differing opinions on. However, if we all approach our robust discussions with “humility toward one another”, our relationship anchored in our Lord Jesus Christ, will never be questioned or shaken. Shalom!
